About me
Kim has been an acquisitions librarian at the MIT Libraries for over twenty years, managing both print and electronic subscriptions. She is currently the Head of Technical Services, which includes acquisitions, cataloging and metadata production and management, and our digitization workflows and lab. Her current favorite workspace is the Libraries' Negotiations Team, a cross-functional team representing collections, acquisitions, licensing, subject, and scholarly communications expertise. Using principled negotiation techniques to achieve the best outcomes for collections purchases, one of our goals is to strategically reduce costs on standard purchases so that we can free dollars for innovative or open access-related purchases. Our aim is to advance the Libraries' objectives of transforming the scholarly communications landscape towards more openness, and supporting diversity and social justice through our collections processes.
